Writing
Creative expression through writing is an integral part of my holistic approach to wellness, a sort of movement practice for my imagination and a way to stay connected to my inner world. I have been an avid journal-keeper since my tenth birthday when I was given a cloth-bound diary with a tiny metal lock and key. These days, I am trying not to keep my writing so hidden. Some years ago, one of the many ways I earned my living was as a reporter and features writer for monthly and daily newpapers. For the past five years, I have been a contributing writer for Dark Matter: Women Witnessing, an online magazine based in Montreal that explores how dreams and communications with the non-human world help us heal our relationship with the Earth. You can find my work in issues #3, 5, 8, 11, and 12. My essays and poems can also be found in several print and online environmental journals, including Flyway,The Hopper, Blueline Magazine, issues #38,39, 40, 41 (forthcoming) and Dark Mountain. I am also grateful to be a particpant in annual celebrations of poetry in Randolph and Montpelier, Vt. Poem Town events.
